From 18^th to 20^th of November in Ustroń was held XIX Scientific and Technical Conference “Construction Industry Geosynthetics Logistics 2015” and training workshops “The Application of geosynthetics in engineering facilities”. The Organizers of the event were: Geotextiles Producers Association, the Institute of Hydroengineering of The University of Bielsko-Biała and Polish Geosynthetic Association. Obviously, OBR S.A. the leader in production of GEOMEMBRANES HDPE was also a participant in this conference.

During the conference, Piotr Jermołowicz from „Environmental Engineering” delivered presentation about problems connected with proper design and execution of engineering facilities.

Many of breakdowns and catastrophes are results of breaching the rule that geosynthetic materials are never an independent construction, but they work properly only when they are properly designed and integrated with the ground. The arrangement of individual sealing-separation layers should be supported by the relevant calculations in the design phase. Unfortunately, in practice, designers often rely solely on the available literature and their own experience. This is the source of many cases of failures in engineering facilities.

The three-day conference has gathered approximately 120 participants, which included representatives of scientific branches, producers of geosynthetics, investors, designers, operators and also students.
